Frequent flyer

It started with my dad's old Windows 95 PC. I spent hours on it as a kid, just discovering what everything did, and that curiosity never left. It took me into studying IT, and for over 5 years now I've worked as a fullstack software engineer with a soft spot for the frontend. My best days are the ones where an idea of mine really helps someone else. Ask a friend to describe me in one word and they'll probably say hilfsbereit: always ready to help.

Love for Languages

I grew up speaking Portuguese, and French came a little later. Then came English, German for life here in Germany, and a bit of Spanish. Japanese is the one I picked purely for myself: I wanted a language with a completely different writing system from ours. Nobody is making me learn it, and that's exactly what makes it fun.

Gamer

For me a great game is about the story, the direction, and how much it pulls you in. God of War (2018) is the one I keep coming back to. I mostly play alone, but some games are only really fun with friends. And there's always room for a race in F1 or a slow shift in Bus Simulator.

Chess Player

A roommate found out I'd never played a real game and taught me how the pieces move. I lost that first game, and somehow that was the start of it. We don't live together any more, but chess stayed. I follow the big tournaments, and Alireza Firouzja is the player I love watching most.

Geography Buff

Maps, flags, capitals: I've always wanted to know where things are and what's there. My favourite way to play with it is Categories. Someone draws a letter, say B, and you race to name every country that starts with it. Quizz Mei, up on the board, came out of the same curiosity.

Aviation Enthusiast

I can't pinpoint when it began. One day, out of the blue, I was hooked on planes, airports and how flight actually works, and it never let go. I follow aviation news and love learning how aircraft work. If I could pick one plane, it would be the Cirrus SF50. It's also why this site looks like a departures board.

Hobby Photographer

I like catching a place the way it felt when I was there: the light, a street, a face in passing. I carry a camera when I travel and sometimes when I don't. A few of my favourite frames are on the wall below ↓.
